PHASE 1

As the newest ORCD affiliate, ORCD Ghana will be looking to conduct projects like these which have been undertaken by earlier affiliates. (PHASE 1)

EXPECTED PROJECT

REASIONS FOR PROJECT

COMMUNITY

1.      Health

Building Primary Health care centers and Provision of services, treating communicable diseases and Offering health education and conducting door-to-door visits
Strengthening referrals of patients
Training of midwives and Community Health Workers
Strengthening community Traditional birth attendance (TBA’s)

Promote effective breastfeeding and the use of family product

2.      Provision of portable drinking/Sanitation

Provision of portable drinking water to poorest areas eg drilling of bore holes

3.      Empowerment of women

The overall goal is to prevent violence against women and girls at home, in their communities and in disaster and conflict situations. 

The specific objectives are:

  1. To increase awareness of women/girls on human rights, improve and promote the civil, social, and cultural rights of women/girls
  2. To promote youth and men engagement and establish networking in support of EVAW law, the rights of women/girls and contribute in changing unequal gender norms and practices.
  3. To increase access to justice systems and advocate for improved enforcement of laws protecting women against Gender based Violence
  4. To stop female genital Mutilation (FGM)

Mobilize national and local media to be involved in the public awareness about women rights
Organize round table discussions in local radio stations broadcasted live. The discussions are aimed at public awareness about women rights and preventing violence against women
Build the capacity and knowledge of persons involved for advocating the women rights in their communities
Offering training of trainers (TOT) training to the ORCD trainers
Select interested Community Development councils (CDCs) who are interested to advocate for women rights
Training persons from the community on women rights and the ways how they can advocate for preventing violence against women

4.      Agriculture inputs

Training eligible farmers on modern best agricultural practices and rearing of animals, Distribute improved seeds to farmers
Supervision and monitoring with the involvement of communities. get them tractors etc.

The reason is to contribute to improving nutrition, food security of farming families, rural households in the area and to increase their income through improved production and marketing of vegetables.

5.      Supporting children with cerebral palsy

Providing food,cloths and Cash for their mothers to engage in basic economic activities at Dormal

Dormaah Ahenkro

6.      Education

Training women on tailoring skills, basket weaving, soap making,barkery and public awareness on environmental protection. It will help to provide public awareness on environmental protection and Provision of Vocational Training to Women on Tailoring & Embroidery Skills in Afram plains area
